KFC celebrates 50 Golden Years in Mzansi with a hunt for R50 Million in REAL GOLD
In 2021, KFC celebrates 50 years of sharing its famous Original Recipe™ with Mzansi in epic style - a hunt for R50 million in REAL GOLD. As a brand treasured by so many South Africans and one that believes in the spirit of generosity, what better way to celebrate than with the ultimate treasure hunt for one of the most sought after, precious and investment rich minerals in the world?
To mark their anniversary, the popular chicken brand has curated a set of one-ounce limited-edition KFC Real Gold Tokens, made from 24-carat gold, and is inviting fans across SA to dig in and join the hunt for them. Between the 30 March and 7 June 2021 KFC customers stand a chance to win just by purchasing any KFC Golden Bucket (9, 15, 21 piece or a Bucket for 1) in store, via the drive thru, by ordering online or through the KFC App.
Over the competition period all that glitters just might be gold, with KFC buckets revamped with golden foiling to remind people to dig in for the chance to win KFC Gold.
With millions of Rands in Real Gold to be won, KFC invites SA to join in on their 50th festivities. While it may be KFC’s Birthday, it’s your celebration. Since 1971, the fast-food chain has served up millions of meals across the country and has, over the past five decades, cemented itself as one of South Africa’s most loved brands. A brand that is not only known for its high-quality standards, but for offering customers delicious meals at great prices - always making it affordable for its customers to enjoy the goodness of KFC.
General Manager: KFC RoSSA and Chief Marketing Officer of KFC Africa, Dhruv Kaul said; “Turning 50 in South Africa means a lot to us at KFC but more than anything, it’s an opportunity for KFC to thank those that have made the iconic brand the success it is today. From our teams, to all our partners, but most importantly, our devoted fans that have supported KFC with their patronage over the past 5 decades. This is why we wanted to go for gold with our celebrations and offer Mzansi the chance to win gold through our famous iconic buckets. While it might be our 50th this year, it’s certainly Mzansi’s celebration.”
With plenty of gold to be won - up to R50 million of it - join Mzansi in the hunt for REAL GOLD with KFC. Purchase any golden bucket in store, online https://order.kfc.co.za/menu/bucket or on the KFC App and follow the instructions on the till slip to enter.
KFC’s 50th. Your Celebration. Dig in and get hunting for Real Gold.

About KFC
KFC has been in South Africa for over 49 years and has around 951 restaurants across the country. The first KFC restaurant to open in South Africa was in 1971 in Orange Grove, Johannesburg. KFC’s Original Recipe® Chicken was first made by Colonel Harland Sanders in 1940 when he perfected his secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices at his restaurant in Kentucky. Today, KFC is the world's most popular chicken restaurant, still preparing our chicken with the Colonel’s secret recipe to his exact standards. Every KFC restaurant follows the same global processes and procedures to make sure that our customers get great tasting food, every time.
