Welcoming KFC to Yellowknife!
KFC Canada and our Franchise partners, Soul, recently opened a new KFC restaurant in Yellowknife, the capital city of Canada’s Northwest Territories! Given Yellowknife’s remote location (only 250 miles south of the Arctic Circle and a multi-hour flight north from Edmonton or Calgary), it took several years of planning to construct and finish out the location. The restaurant is housed in a combined KFC and Starbucks building that both feature drive thrus.
The local Yellowknife community was incredibly excited to welcome the new restaurant as KFC closed its last restaurant in there six years ago after 47 years in the city. Check out this fascinating article about the community’s emotion behind the closing and opening of Yellowknife’s KFC.
People were in line at 7:45 AM on opening day to get their KFC fix and the restaurant team was ready for them with smooth operations, great food and service. Given the excitement surrounding the opening, it was no surprise that the restaurant had a fantastic first day and week – despite COVID restrictions.
Congratulations to everyone involved in this special opening!
