KFC’s first-ever Black African female GM

Akhona Qengqe

Beginning on April 1, Akhona Qengqe, Chief Development Officer for KFC Africa, will become the new General Manager (GM) for KFC Africa; marking KFC’s first-ever Black African female GM.

Akhona started her career with KFC in 2015 as Development Director and has since taken on roles in Human Resources as a leader for our Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (EI&B) agenda, before taking on the role as Chief People Officer (CPO) for KFC Africa in 2020.

In partnership with the leadership team, she helped the Africa business navigate a global pandemic and invigorated our development programs to enable our heart-led, high-performing people and culture.

Akhona’s leadership shadow can be felt across the entire KFC organization as a fierce advocate for gender parity and female empowerment through her work in creating and launching KFC’s global Community of Belonging (COB), SHINE.

Please join our KFC family in congratulating Akhona on this amazing next step in her career and celebrating this milestone in our global ambition for gender parity.
