KFC fans rejoice; finger lickin’ chicken is here to stay in Farnworth
United Kingdom, November 27, 2019- On Monday, we opened a brand-new KFC restaurant in Farnworth, near Bolton, which has created 41 jobs for the local community.
Amongst those new team members is local teen, Sebastian Thompson, 17, who cut the ribbon to the new restaurant – a spring chicken starting his first ever job.
To show their support, three local councillors, Lisa Weatherby, Maureen Flitcroft and Paul Sanders (not to be confused as a relative of the Colonel!) attended the opening and sampled the amazing Colonel inspired celebration cake.
On the day, the KFC Foundation made a donation of £1,500 to the Greater Manchester Youth Network, a local charity that helps young people learn vital skills, develop positive wellbeing and build a support network in the local community. Alex Fairweather, CEO of GMYN, was thrilled to be there to accept the donation.
Two team members have already signed onto the KFC management program and will start their leadership training in January – the Colonel, rightfully, has high hopes for them and the restaurant.

The brand-new restaurant will be serving fans seven days a week, 10.30am to 11pm.

The Colonel also believed in feeding promise, wherever it’s found. So that’s why we invest heavily in the development and careers of our 27,000 employees – we were the first restaurant to launch an honours degree. And since its 2015 launch, our KFC Foundation has paid out grants totalling £5 million to our charity partners who are passionate about developing and nurturing young people across the country.
